Phoenicians first founded the Batroun region back in the thirty second century BC. This civilization established a great wine production, one of the first in the world, and spread its viticulture practices along the Mediterranean.

The region was later ruled by the Roman Byzantine Empire during the medieval period, leaving many traces of its reign in the area.

There are a significant number of churches that date back to the Byzantine period and temples that have collapsed due to some natural disasters.

Today, Batroun is a reputable touristic area in Lebanon, with a growing wine industry and ecotourism. The winery is located in the northern village of Rachkidde, 16 km from the city of Batroun.

This village consists of 15 houses and two churches, one of which dates back to the 17th century.

At 850 m altitude, and stretching over 2.5 hectars the Aurora vineyards are situated in a nearby village called Aoura, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and “Nahr al Jaws”,also called the ‘walnut river’. Aoura is also home to the only waterfall in region. The vineyards are surrounded by pine and olive trees, which are highly abundant in the area.
